Lakkar Bazaar, Lakkar Bazaar or the wood Bazaar is on a narrow road adjoining the Ridge. The Bazaar road also leads to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and hospital and DAV school. It is popular for wooden decorative items and souvenirs. The items here are comparatively cheaper than in Delhi and other cities. The shops here offer almost everything from decorative items to articles used daily in kitchen. The market came into being after a group of Sikh carpenters came and settled here from Hoshiapur. They continue to churn out charming wooden products from woods such as deodars and walnut, which are commonly found around Shimla.

DAY 2: Shimla to Kufri Local Side Seen visit

The Ridge road is a large open space, located in the heart of Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, India. The Ridge is the hub of all cultural activities of Shimla. It is situated along the Mall Road, which is the famous shopping center of Shimla. Most major places of Shimla like Snow don, Mall, Jakhoo hill, etc. are connected through the Ridge.

Scandal Point,Summer Hill is a picturesque spot on Shimla-Kalka railway line that offers amazing views of the snow covered mountains. Located only a few kilometers away from Shimla, this lovely township offers quiet surroundings and scenic views of the nearby hills. Summer Hill is the same place where Mahatma Gandhi had visited and stayed at the elegant Georgian House of Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur. The place seems to be fully covered with snow during winter and extremely pleasant during summers. The Himachal University too is located in the stunning backdrop of Summer Hill.

Kufri just 13 km away from the main town. The views and sceneries here only get better, and the landscapes more flattering, a bit untouched with the tourist rush. However, Kufri too is becoming increasingly popular with the visitors, especially due to the zoo here. One must visit Kurri’s zoological park which is famous for having rare species of Antelopes, Felines, Bears and birds including Himalayan Monal, which is the state bird of Himachal Pradesh.

Jakhu Hill, The highest point of the city is Jakhoo Hill Shimla that is covered with Alpine trees. At the top of the flat hill is the colourful Jakhoo Temple and the newly constructed Hanuman statue. Jakhoo Hill Shimla is a favourite escape for visitors wanting peace and calm from the city far below. The walk up to the hill takes approximately 30 minutes and follows a pleasant route, just beware of the criminal minded monkeys that are waiting to rob tourist of food and shiny objects!

Mahasu Peak is a view point and where one arrives in winter for some fun with snow. Skiing here is not fully organized but local operators? conduct what can be termed as fun skiing. It is among top in the list of places to visit in Kufri.

Kufri Fun World Located at 2800 metres above sea level, Kufri Fun World is one of the highest amusement parks in the world. It has the highest go kart track in the world. Situated amidst the snow-capped Himalayan peaks, it is one of the most beautifully situated amusement parks in the world.

Faggu Located between two valleys and surrounded by apple orchards, Faggu is ideal for skiing in the winter months, and makes a great spot for a picnic during the summer.

Mall Road is the main street in Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, India Constructed during British colonial rule, the Mall road is located a level below the ridge. The offices of Municipal Corporation, fire service, and police headquarters are located here. Automobiles, except emergency vehicles are not allowed on this road. For this reason, locals and tourists are often found strolling on this road in the evenings

Kullu Valley is a broad open valley formed by the Beas River between Manaliand Largi. This valley is famous for its temples, beauty and its majestic hills covered with pine and deodar forest and sprawling apple orchards. The course of the Beas River presents a succession of magnificent, clad with forests of deodar, towering above trees of pine on the lower rocky ridges. Kullu valley is sandwiched between the Pir Panjal, Lower Himalayan and Great Himalayan Ranges.

Mandi district (earlier known as Mandavya Nagar) is one of the central districts of Himachal Pradesh state in northern India. Mandi town is the headquarters of Mandi district. The town has mythological and historical significance and boasts of unique temple architecture. It is referred to as Chhota Kashi as there are many ancient temples in the city and on the banks of river Beas. The Beas flows through the town and hills, which makes this town more scenic. It has a serene ambiance though the modern development has made its inroads here in infrastructural developments.

Manali is a valley nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley, at an altitude of 2,050 m (6,726 ft.) in the Beas River Valley. It is located in the Kullu district, about 270 km (168 mi) north of the state capital, Shimla, 309 km (192 miles) northeast of Chandigarh and 544 km (338 miles) northeast of Delhi, the federal capital. The small town, with a population of 8,096,[1] is the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and from there over the Passion to Yarkand and Khotan in the Trim Basin. It is a popular tourist destination and serves as the gateway to Lahaul & Spiti district as well as Leh.

Gulabo Point Gulaba is a small village near Manali which is located on the road to Rohtang pass. Named after Raja Gulab Singh of Kashmir, the village of Gulaba is flanked by the picturesque beauty of snow covered mountains, grasslands and the Beas river that washes away its landscapes. Owing to such an amazing topography. Being reputed as a heavy snowfall region, the landscapes of Gulaba have turned out to be a hub for adventure sports.

Solang Valley is easily every adventure lover's paradise. There are a wide variety of activities and adventure sports here, where you can really challenge the daredevil in you. Among these, paragliding is perhaps the most pursued activity here. In this sport, you are supposed to jump from a higher altitude such that a parachute opens up and allows to cover some horizontal distance as well. Here at the Solang Valley, ample arrangements are in place such that both freshers and experienced paragliders can enjoy this activity. Best time for paragliding varies according to seasons.. This activity is generally shut down during the monsoon season due to unfavourable weather conditions.

Hadimba Devi Temple also known variously as the Hadimba Temple, is located in Manali, a hill station in the State of Himachali Pradesh in north India. It is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hadimba Devi, sister of Hadimba, a figure in the Indian epic Mahabharata. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest at the foot of the Himalayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground which was worshipped as an image of the deity. The structure was built in 1553.

Museum of Himachal Culture and Folk Art is a stone's throw from Hadimba Devi Temple at Manali. It is located 2-3 km from Manalimain town. The Museum was established in 1998 to collect and exhibit cultural and folk art antiques articles of Himachal Pradesh. But the initiative to collect articles of traditional values from all over Himachal began long time back in 1990.

The Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Area as a Natural Site was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List during the session of the 38th World Heritage Committee in Doha, the State of Qatar, on 23rd June 2014.The inscription confirms Great Himalayan National Park Conservation Areas Outstanding Universal Value as a site containing the most important and significant natural habitats for in-situ conservation of Western Himalayan biological diversity, including those containing threatened species of outstanding universal value from the point of view of science or conservation.

Manu Temple is one of the main tourist attractions in Manali.. Its in Old Manali region and connected with main market through a road which passes through Manali Community Center Here are some photographs of the place. The temple is dedicated to the Indian sage Manu who is said to be the creator of the world and the writer of Manuscript. This temple is considered as only Manu temple on earth and most of the foreigners come to see this temple. For Foreigners, this temple is must go place and other places can missed, but this can't be... The Club House Manali is located in the center of the city near the Mall road. It offers comprehensive facilities that include a roller skating rink, an auditorium, billiards rooms, a library, a bar, and a restaurant. The place is one of the most favorite attractions inManali for kids, who can play video games, enjoy Go carting etc. available here. The Club House Manali is run by HPTDC and there's a little something for everyone here. Other interesting games that can be enjoyed here are Carrom, table tennis, and pool.

The Manali Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary in Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The sanctuary starts about 2 km from Manali. It is the catchment of Manalsu khad. A path from Manali log huts and Dhungri temple passes through dense Deodar, Kael, Horse chestnut, Walnut and Maple forests. Musk deer, Monal and Brown bear, Leopard and Snow leopard are some of the common animals seen here

The Vashisht hot waters springs are said to cure many skin diseases. Many people go to the Vashisht baths to take a dip and rid themselves of skin infections and diseases. There are separate baths for both men and women. The baths are fitted with Turkish style showers. These baths are close to the hot water spring so that hot and cold water can be separately piped. Vashisht also houses some of the most famous temples in its vicinity. Golden Temple Day View Amritsar is one of Punjab’s principal cities, dating back in history over 400 years. It is known more for the world famous Golden Temple, the seat of Sikh religion. Situated on the north-western border of India, the city is also gateway for the travelers on the overland route through Pakistan. The Wagah border, which is the check-post, is about 29 kms away. Amritsar literally means "the pool of nectar", the name derived from a pool constructed at the sacred site in the 16th century, gifted by the Mughal Emperor Akbar to Guru Ramdas, the fourth preceptor of the Sikh faith.

Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar in the Punjab state of India, and houses a memorial of national importance, established in 1951 by the Government of India, to commemorate the massacre by British occupying forces of peaceful celebrators including unarmed women and children, on the occasion of the Punjabi New Year on April 13, 1919 in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Colonial British Raj sources identified 379 fatalities and estimated about 1100 wounded .Civil Surgeon Dr. Smith indicated that there were 1,526 casualties.

Evening Time Visit Wagah Border in Amritsar between Pakistan and India is the only road border between the two countries. It lies on the Grand Trunk Road between the cities of Amritsar, Punjab, India, and Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The border is located 22 km from Lahore and 28 km from Amritsar. Apart from its national significance it is visited with great patriotism and enthusiasm for the ceremony that happens every day before sunset. The highlight is lowering of the flags of the two countries simultaneously. The flags are folded and the ceremony ends with a gesture that involves a brusque handshake between soldiers from either side which is followed by the closing of the gates. The spectacle of the ceremony attracts many visitors from both sides of the border, as well as international tourists for its high energy and enthusiastic ceremonial practice. This checkpoint at Wagah Border in Amritsar draws plenty of global attention and affords a stage for Indian and Pakistani paramilitary forces to strut their tough stuff. Each sunset, there are noisy partisan crowds cheering on the BSF and the Rangers as they present arms with much stage managed, in-your-face ceremony, each side trying to outdo the other..………….
